'Manifest': Episode 14 sees Zeke and Cal receive the same 'Calling' again, will they team up to solve the case?

NBC's mystery thriller, 'Manifest', has only two episodes left, and we can be fairly sure that very soon we might see the two most intriguing characters come together to solve the case of the missing flight. Played by Jack Messina and Matt Long respectively, Cal Stone and Zeke finally managed to put their differences aside in Episode 14, titled 'Upgrade', and find out about the "Calling" they had together, again.

Starring alongside Josh Dallas as Ben Stone, Melissa Roxburgh as Michaela Stone, Athena Karkanis as Grace, J.R. Ramirez as Jared, and Parveen Kaur as Saanvi Bahl, Cal and Zeke have been receiving the same "Callings" ever since we were introduced to Zeke in Episode 12. Cal knew Zeke would arrive and he strangely was aware of the fact Zeke would be wounded.

However, once Zeke shifted in with Cal's family, Cal suddenly withdrew himself and did not want to confront Zeke. This is what Episode 14 follows as Zeke tries to persuade Cal to work along with him. In the episode, the two had a shared "Calling" where they both witnessed a wolf attacking them and then suddenly disappearing into thin air. While Zeke was immediately interested in finding out what the sight of the wolf could actually mean, Cal somehow refused to think about it. In fact, he did not even try to draw it as he had done with his earlier "Callings".

However, once Grace intervened and managed to convince him to draw it out, Cal produced an image which showed the wolf leaping to attack Michaela. This was the point of departure between Cal and Zeke's "Callings". When Zeke saw the vision, he only saw a wolf standing by the door waiting to attack him.

It was different for Cal. He saw the wolf already attacking Michaela, and he feared if he drew it, it would come true. We saw this happen towards the end of the episode when Michaela joined her team in a rescue operation where they had to pull out a car which had been in the water for over 82 hours.

Surprisingly, the man inside the car was still alive and well, and the moment Michaela opened the door, he pounced at her in exactly the way Cal had drawn the wolf attacking her. Considering Cal and Zeke's "Callings," it can be said they are receiving the same visions but in parts. It seems like when Zeke sees a vision, he only sees the beginning of it, whereas Cal's sees the end of what Zeke begins to see in his vision.

So, does that mean the two characters are actually seeing the same visions but only in parts? If that is happening, then it can be logical to assume there is a greater purpose behind Zeke and Cal coming together, and hopefully, the show will reveal their dynamic once it returns with Episode 15 February 11 on NBC.
