Bright student turns pure water sachets into umbrella, rain coat [Photos]

A gifted student from Ghana’s Sunyani Technical University has turned abandoned pure water sachets into umbrellas and raincoats.

Africa has a plastic pollution problem, but some creatives are working to repurpose waste plastic into usable products.

The student made a raincoat, umbrella and other goods from the waste materials.

A Facebook user, Set Wilson, posted photos of the goods online and submitted some to the popular Facebook group, Tell It All, where the talented student’s work received widespread recognition.

In the photos, a young girl and a man modelled an umbrella and raincoat made from plastic as they walked a runway.

“This is what the government should be supporting. Sunyani Technical University student created this. [The] university is setting new trends while also saving the planet,” Set Wilson captioned the photographs he shared on Facebook,
