ST. LOUIS – Jonathan India is so hot at the plate these days for the Cincinnati Reds, he's starting to do things nobody has ever been known to do in franchise history.
When the Reds second baseman doubled home the first run of Saturday's game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, it marked his seventh consecutive game with a double.
No Red since at least 1900 – as far back as the stat could be researched – has had a longer streak.
India tied Jesse Winker's three-year-old franchise record for consecutive games with an extra-base hit.

India, who took over the full-time leadoff role Monday when TJ Friedl (hamstring) went back on the injured list, was 12-for-19 since then with that double – his eighth double in those five-plus games. He also had four walks and was hit by a pitch in that stretch, for a .708 on-base percentage for the week (and 1.761 OPS).
Saturday's double also extended his hitting streak to 11 games, during which he was 20-for-38 (.526) with 10 doubles and five walks through that at-bat.
