Taking a page from Jimmy Fallon's book, get ready for your newest TV obsession, thanks to Spike TV's Lip Sync Battle, which premieres tomorrow night with LL Cool J as host and Glamour fave Chrissy Teigen as a commentator. Each episode (there are 18 of 'em!) will feature two A-list celebrities lip-synching their hearts out in hysterically epic performances. Earlier today, Chrissy hopped on the phone with me from rainy New York City to talk about her dream lip-synch battle, John Legend as MC Hammer, and the surprising reason she stays away from music festivals.
Glamour: This sounds like a dream job—watching A-list celebs lip-synch and then getting to critique them.
Chrissy Teigen: Everything about it was really fun, and it was such a surprise for me every single day. I really truly loved it. I miss doing it now!
Glamour: But is it difficult to come up with witty commentary?
Chrissy: The fun part is the witty stuff. The hard part is pulling it in and giving actual feedback because I just want to joke and be funny. Giving the critiques is the hard part. It's weird to look Justin Bieber in the face and scold him. He's eight times better than me than anything. So it's funny to watch him and then say something like, "Justin, you didn't really bring your A game tonight!"
Glamour: That's amazing. So whose lip-synch battles are must-watch events?
Chrissy: Marlon Wayans is incredible. So is Stephen Merchant, who performed to "Dirty." He's so tall and gangly, it's amazing. Jimmy Fallon is great, Justin Bieber. Anna Kendrick really took it seriously and killed it. Salt-N-Pepa too.
Glamour: What's the funniest song you could possibly lip-synch to?
Chrissy: I love really dirty, raunchy songs, so think Lil Kim's "Magic Stick." I also love a lot of LL's songs, which are really fun.
