Drew Barrymore Had the Best Response to SNL’s Spoof of Her Talk Show

The Drew Barrymore Show has only been on the air for a few weeks, but it’s already gotten the Saturday Night Live parody treatment.

In SNL’s 46th season premiere on October 3, cast member Chloe Fineman brought out her spot-on Barrymore impersonation for a sketch lightly mocking the actor’s brand-new daytime talk show. Fineman perfectly captured Barrymore’s intonations and her bohemian-hippie personality in a way that wasn’t mean-spirited at all. The sketch also made a nod to all the controversy surrounding Ellen DeGeneres and her talk show this past summer.

“Hello to all my beautiful wildflowers,” Fineman said in the sketch. “I’m just like you, a boho, free-spirit, mommy mother movie star since I was six.” SNL also played up how nice and kind Barrymore’s persona is, noting that she’s too emotionally supportive to her crew. Fineman even plays other Hollywood A-listers in the sketch, like Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, being interviewed by Drew Barrymore.

It’s genuinely super funny.

Barrymore apparently thought so too. “@nbcsnl and @chloeiscrazy is the greatest thing. I have loved SNL for as long as i know, and to also have the @thedrewbarrymoreshow brought to the party is so fun,” she wrote on Instagram with photos of herself laughing along to the skit. “Honored to be apart of it . PS #DREWSNEWS hearts #WEEKENDUPDATE.” Witherspoon also commented, “So good & btw I do love you THAT much 💕💕💕💕.” (In the skit, “Witherspoon” tells “Drew,” “I love you so much, I want to come into your room and murder you with a butter spoon.”)
