Elden Ring’s Cut Content Could Indicate What Shadow of the Erdtree Will be About

FromSoftware has left Elden Ring fans wondering about the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, despite being silent about the DLC and what it might entail. Players have been speculating and have hundreds of theories of what might be, but they are still unsure if they are onto something.

Every game has cut content that does not make it to the final game, and with a game as massive as Elden Ring, there are bound to be plenty. Ever since the release of the game, players have found lots of cut content, and there is a possibility that it might suggest what the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC could be about.

Elden Ring players have discovered a lot of cut content, such as questlines, dialogues, and more. You can check a good chunk of it out here.

A player found something known as Dream Mist or Dream Brew, which was supposed to be a questline for a monk called Jiko. Players would have completed the quest and acquired the Dream Mist. Dream Mist would allow players to put the NPCs in the game to sleep and go into their dream world.

There was also a questline related to the Mimic Tear Summon Ash that would have seen players completing the quest related to an NPC called Asimi who is also a Silver Tear at the Artist’s Shack in Limgrave. The cut dialogues to the questline have also been found in the game files that reveal how the questline would have gone. Players also believe that this quest would have revealed some more things about the Eternal Cities in the game.

There was also an item known as St. Trina’s Crystal Ball that, if it did not make it into the game, would allow players to steal dreams from NPCs. Players also found colosseums in Leyndell, Caelid, and Limgrave, and it’s been speculated that these were supposed to be PvP arenas that were connected to Elden Ring‘s origin, and players think it could somehow appear in the Elden Ring DLC.

Players even found icons related to the NPCs in Elden Ring, suggesting that FromSoftware had planned to include a Bestiary in the game, but it did not make the cut. A data miner also found something called Age of Absolute with fans thinking that it was an ending for the game which was cut and could also be tied to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion but nothing concrete has been known so far about this that could give weightage to the speculations.

A reference indicating that Miquella is St. Trina was also cut.

There were more things in the game that were cut such as a reference indicating that Miquella was St. Trina, Armor sets, and even a codex related to the incantations in the game. The Dream Mist/Dream Brew could also be connected to the DLC, not meaning that the expansion would be all about that, but it has been rumored to be a gateway to other worlds.

Moreover, it has been indicated that Miquella is stuck in a dream in his Cocoon as he entered the Haligtree and the Dream Mist might allow players to somehow enter his dreams and wake him up even. Although this might be called too far-fetched, it could still be something tying up to the DLC. Maybe even the cut questlines make a comeback but nothing can be confirmed as of now.
