Noblesville school shooting survivor Ella Whistler made an appearance at the Carmel Fest Parade.
NOBLESVILLE (WTHR) – On Wednesday, we got to see Ella Whistler for the first time since the tragic shooting at Noblesville West Middle School in May.
Whistler was the student seriously hurt in that attack.
But today, she smiled as she rode on a float in the Carmel Fest parade this morning.
And we saw her again, with hero teacher Jason Seaman, in the Noblesville 4th of July parade Wednesday afternoon.
As you might expect from the hottest political race in America, Indiana's two candidates for United State Senate were not going to let this parade pass them by.
"It's fabulous, it's America. It's the celebration of our Independence,” said Sen Joe Donnelly-(D) Ind.
"It's where the people get to talk to you a little bit. Shake a lot of hands,” said Mike Braun Republican senate candidate
WTHR's Scott Swan and Ben Hill took part in the parade as well, but the biggest celebrity at Carmel Fest was Ella.
The bagpipers were there. Even the Carmel cross country team made an early appearance.
But even with all that, the oppressive heat took its toll.
"It's very hot,” said mom Jennifer Taylor. “Too hot for her to be out here. Not enough water. Came with sunscreen and water and it’s just too hot."
