George Russell has had a very busy first half of the 2022 Formula One season where the Brit rarely had any time to spend with his loved ones. F1 is currently on a two-week break and Russell is trying to make the most of it by enjoying time off from the sport with his girlfriend Carmen Mundt.
George Russell has taken to Twitter to share a picture of himself and Carmen and has written, “Enjoying the rare sight of sunshine in the motherland.”
George Russell is back in his home country as when the season is in full swing, the drivers along with the teams are always on the go jumping from one flight to another.
Moreover, because the Brit does not get to spend much time in his motherland, has decided to stay put in his home country till the time to go racing comes around.
The 2022 Formula One season is 11 races down and Russell’s team Mercedes has had a rollercoaster ride during those 11 rounds. During the initial phase of the season, there were more downs as compared to ups for the team and they have just recently in the last few races started to show signs of improvement.
George Russell scored top 5 finishes in the first 9 races of the season
While Mercedes has struggled to develop a package worthy of challenging Red Bull and Ferrari, George Russell has put in consistent shifts for the team that has helped the team in keeping a good grip over third place in the Constructors Championships.
Lewis Hamilton struggled during the first half of the season and has only in the last few races started showing consistent form, before him, it was Russell who was helping the team the best he could.
George Russell managed to land his W13 in the Top 5 in the first 9 races of the season and this helped the team massively in warding off threats from teams who are behind them in the Championship.
Given the tireless work that the Brit has done for the team, the two weeks break is well earned and much needed. The 23-year-old is using the time to take his mind off the sport for once so that when the time comes to get on a plane, he has fully recharged his batteries to do the prolific job that he has done so far in his rookie season for the Brackley-based Mercedes team.
