Following the episode, Schafer shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the montage on Instagram. “I love Brokeback Mountain. I also like [that] it's also something I never would've thought I would be offered to emulate on film, so that was really cool,” Schafer told Entertainment Weekly of the experience. “And that was fun for me and Z just because we got to do our Southern accents and act like kind of old withered Southern dudes who were secretly gay for each other. It was just fun on set for that."

However, one fan noticed a nerve-wracking detail about the whole thing…and it doesn't bode well for Rue. “Rue kept embodying the characters who die at the end of the movie (Jack from Titanic, Sam from Ghost, Jack Twist from Brokeback Mountain),” user @ULTRAGLOSS tweeted. “It is not looking good for my girl…”
