Some Brazilian family members with six fingers each have expressed hope that they can count their country’s World Cup titles on one hand.
About 15 members of the da Silva family, nicknamed “Family Six”, have six fingers on their hands—and some feet.
Without a doubt, Brazil is one of the most successful teams in the history of the World Cup. They have won the trophy five times – in Sweden in 1958, Chile in 1962, Mexico in 1970, the USA in 1994, and in Korea-Japan in 2002.

The da Silvas family hopes this turns to six in Qatar in 2022.
Brazil’s ambition to win their sixth World Cup came a bit closer with a 4-1 win against South Korea in the round-of-16 games.
Certainly, the six-fingered family that lives in Aguas Claras, in the Federal District, in Brazil’s capital, will have been gripping the edges of their seat with every finger.

This rare genetic variation, referred to as polydactyly, has reportedly been in their family for four generations.
The study, published in Nature, a journal, noted that hands with six fingers are controlled by more muscles and nerves than those with five fingers.
