It’s been nearly two years since FromSoftware’s action role-playing title Elden Ring was released. Players have been waiting to hear something about the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion from the developer but no official information has been revealed so far despite several rumors.
However, players have found something else to talk about now. A lot of content was cut from the game’s early version and players and data miners have discovered aplenty. Players have now come across Godfrey’s cut dialogues and have been speculating how they connect to the lore.
Elden Ring Fans Find Godfrey’s Cut Dialogues
Elden Ring player and Redditor Delicious-Profile867 took to the Elden Ring subreddit and posted a nearly 4-minute clip of cut dialogues belonging to Godfrey. Godfrey is the first Elden Lord of the Golden Order and the former consort of Queen Marika the Eternal.

The cut dialogues include a retelling of the story that players hear when they start the game and the next dialogue indicates that Godfrey might have been more aware of the shattering of the Elden Ring than what has been believed so far. Here’s what Godfrey says in the cut dialogues:

There are more cut dialogues that show Godfrey during a fight as well as his battle spirit that is manifested as a lion. Players discussed how Godfrey’s dialogues always implied that he was aware of Marika’s plan, suggesting that he could have been a part of it too. It is also possible that he was made the first tarnished as he knew that Marika would betray the Greater Will.

One player mentioned that a mimic tear quest was cut where they had to find a spirit to help with the quest and another added that Godfrey should have been a “2 health bar boss.” While players discuss the cut content, there are chances that some of it might be seen in the Shadow of the Erdtress but it’s advised to take this with a grain of salt as nothing about the DLC’s narrative is known.
There have been several rumors about the DLC suggesting that it might be released sometime next month probably around the game’s second anniversary but it is pure speculation. Players have also been speculating about the narrative of the DLC with ideas like Queen Marika’s past, and more.
