Filming for 'A Gunfighter’s Deal' movie underway in Parrish

The movie is packed with action and romance, and actor Jesse Kove said he’s excited to film in Florida.

PARRISH, Fla. — A movie is underway in the Tampa Bay area as crews and cast film "A Gunfighter’s Deal" in Parrish.

Tucked away in Manatee County is where the movie is being filmed at Les Mcdowell’s Dry Creek. One of the main actors, Jesse Kove, is excited to film in Florida.

He has starred in other movies and shows, such as Netflix's Cobra Kai. In "A Gunfighter's Deal," Kove’s character is on a journey.

"I can’t say too much, but he goes on a journey of redemption and a journey of love and romance," Kove said.

As Kove's character navigates that plot in this Western setting, he does it alongside his twin sister and father who also star in the movie.

This is the first time all three are taking on a movie together at this level.

The movie is packed with action and romance, and Kove said he’s excited to film in Florida.

"I’ve shot many movies here in Florida, I love making movies here," Jesse said.

There is a downfall to filming in Florida. Unlike other states, Florida doesn’t offer tax incentives for production companies.

"Florida is an awesome state to shoot in, but it doesn’t give the opportunities for other companies to come to do this," producer and actor for "A Gunfighter's Deal" Tony Senzamici said.

Senzamici explained filming helps the state by employing people. It is also known to attract tourists to the area.

This past May, several state lawmakers tried to pass a bill to incentivize the entertainment industry, but it failed.

"It really is a shame Florida can’t get this passed for companies to come here," Senzamici said.

Actors like Kove agree because they want to work here.

"I really do think the incentives in Florida should change because people love to make movies here," Kove added.

"A Gunfighter's Deal" will be available to watch next year.
