Every world has a theme for its inverted levels that make them unique from each other, and I'll give a brief explanation of each world's theme as it comes along. I'll also be giving detailed instructions on how to reach the hidden gem in each inverted level so that there's no difficulty in finding them.
The theme for N. Sanity Island is total darkness, which only lets up if you spin, which sends out a shockwave that reveals enemies, boxes, and the terrain of the level. You'll be doing a ton of spinning in this level, which will also very likely net you the achievement for performing a triple spin...
To do a triple spin, you need to spin in succession three times, obviously, but you need to time each subsequent spin as the current spin finishes. If you spam the spin button, you won't perform a triple spin.
Use the triple spin to defeat an enemy and you'll also get an achievement...
Lastly, finish any level in N. Verted mode to earn the achievement...
With those three achievements out of the way, let's get to the levels.
Rude Awakening
The hidden gem is at the very beginning, on the right of where you spawn in. It's just sitting against the edge of the map, vibing.
N. Sanity Peak
During the chase sequence, you'll come to the second checkpoint where you'll need to use a rope to swing over a void. Instead of continuing on right away, climb to the top of the rope and find the hidden gem up there.
The theme for The Hazardous Wastes is oversaturation. Nothing fancy here, just washed-out gameplay.
A Real Grind
After the first checkpoint, you'll find a Nitro box surrounded by three normal inverted boxes. You'll want to crouch jump off the next collapsing barrel to bounce off of the inverted box overhead to reach the hidden gem hiding way in the air.
Crash Compactor
From the last checkpoint in the side scrolling section, you'll find a stack of four platforms that are all inverted from each other. Fall down those and continue left, then make your way up to the top of the wall you just passed to find the hidden gem floating over the box on top of the wall.
Hit The Road
From the bonus path, look ahead to see a raised mesh metal grate. Standing on top of it and looking down, you'll see the hidden gem underneath the grate. Slide under the grate to grab it.
Truck Stopped
After the first checkpoint with Tawna, you'll swing along a rope and cross over two collapsing barrels, then Hookshot to the distant platform. Keep the boxes on the left intact because you'll need them to reach the upper ledge. From the upper ledge, you need to creep off of the back edge to collect the hidden gem and jump back up before you die.
Stage Dive
There is no hidden gem here. Just beat the boss to earn the achievement...
The theme for the Salty Wharf is very similar to Splatoon or De Blob, in that spinning causes paint to splatter around you and bring color and life to an otherwise bland world.
Booty Calls
In the section where you need to ride moving rafts across the left and right sides of the path to get all the boxes, if you look along the right side, you'll see a platform with a few boxes and a fence covering the left side. The hidden gem is on that odd platform, behind the boxes. It's not easy to see and getting back to the level after collecting it can be a bit tricky.
Thar He Blows!
As soon as you gain control of Crash/Coco, head behind the left pillar ahead of you to find the hidden gem.
Hook, Line, And Sinker
After the second checkpoint, there will be two small dragon enemies ahead on a lower level. You need to bounce off one of their heads to reach the hidden gem floating high in the air. It is easy to miss this one because of positioning, so make sure the enemies are somewhere near the middle of their path.
Jetboard Jetty
At the fourth checkpoint, before you get on the jetboard you should walk back toward the camera on the left side of the normal path to find the hidden gem being sneaky.
The theme for Tranquility Falls is sepia tone. Nothing else, just a new tone for the levels.
Give It A Spin
After the cutscene that signifies a timeline level, look in the upper right corner to see the hidden gem lurking. Grab the Dark mask and use it to fly up to grab the gem.
Potion Commotion
After you gain control of Crash/Coco, look to the right side to see a lower are that you can fall down to. The hidden gem is on top of a tall wall that you'll need to crouch jump to reach.
Draggin' On
After the second checkpoint, you'll find a tall wall after cross a large gap with the Dark mask, guarded by three lions. Climb that tall wall and stop at the very top. Across the top of the wall, where you can't see right now, is the hidden gem floating on its own. You need to use the Dark mask to fly across and grab it, then fall back down the center of the wall to land safely on the ground below.
Off Balance
After the fifth checkpoint, you'll come to a bridge that has two dragons circling it at the beginning and end of it. The hidden gem is underneath the boards of the bridge, which break after you walk on them. It is incredibly difficult to get this gem and continue the level without dying. You will likely need to do this level twice for the gem and the perfect run.
Trouble Brewing
This is the level where you get the inverted levels from, but there's nothing special here as far as the fight goes.
The theme for Mosquito Marsh is ragtime, where there are the film grain marks on the screen and you move a little faster.
Off Beat
After the second checkpoint, look left to see a dumpster. The hidden gem is behind that dumpster, just chillin' out.
Home Cookin'
After the fourth checkpoint, you'll come across a giant mixer with a small side area that has an enemy and a TNT barrel on an upper ledge. After blowing the mixer and jumping across, jump onto the next conveyor belt and look in the background to see a boardwalk behind the houses. You need to jump back there and walk left along the planks to find the very sneaky hidden gem.
Run It Bayou
At the start, go down the steps ahead and look to the left to see an awning over the platform in the middle of the water. Jump onto the awning, then onto an upper ledge that hides the hidden gem. Pretty simple
No Dillo Dallying
After you gain control of Crash/Coco, walk backward to the left or right edge of the dock and make a blind slide jump with a double jump to reach a platform in the middle of the river that hosts the hidden gem. Just trust me, it's there.
The theme for The 11th Dimension is a comic book style. That's it.
Snow Way Out
After the second checkpoint, you'll come across a slow-moving river with tons of ice blocks. Cross to the top of the river to find a small cave on the right side that is hiding the hidden gem.
Ship Happens
After the first checkpoint as Crash/Coco, you'll come across the slow-moving river with tons of ice blocks. Look near the end of the river to see a platform with a tall stack of boxes. You need to bounce off one of the boxes to bounce off the top of the wooden jump box, which will allow you to bounce and break the boxes above, then bounce high to find the hidden gem off-screen overhead.
Stay Frosty
After the first checkpoint, you'll come to the Time mask and a rail that has malfunctioning doors that open and close on their own. After you pass the first door and duck under the first wall, there will be a ring of spikes that you need to jump through. Quickly duck under the rail as soon as you land on the other side of the spikes to find the hidden gem.
Bears Repeating
After the second checkpoint, you'll come to a metal jump box on the left. Use that to reach the two rising and falling platforms, then stand on the right one to cause the left one to raise into the air. Jump onto the left one and slide jump to the left to find the hidden gem high in the air.
Building Bridges
After you get on the bear but before the first checkpoint on the bear, there will be an ice floor that you slide on that ends with you going between two fallen icicles. Fall off the ledge to follow the boxes and jump so that you land just on the other side of the fallen tree, as close to the wall as possible. The hidden gem is back there, and it's another gem where you'll probably need to play the level twice to get the gem and the perfect run.
4th Time's A Charm
This is the first boss fight with Cortex and nothing special happens here.
The theme for Eggipus Dimension is for it to look more hand-drawn, almost like it was done with colored pencil or crayon.
Blast To The Past
After the bonus path, you'll cross over several groups of enemies and over a few leaf bridges until you come to a group of two armored boxes with a jump box and a multi-hit box between them. Break the multi-hit box and use the jump box to sneak around the overhead armored box to bounce very high into the sky for the hidden gem, which is very far off screen.
Fossil Fueled
After the second checkpoint, you'll cross a few volcanoes by turning enemies into solid and bouncy platforms. Right after landing on the other side, you can see the hidden gem floating over the floating TNT box ahead. Turn the plant enemy into a bouncy platform and use it to reach the top of the TNT, where you'll bounce to collect the gem.
Dino Dash
Before starting the first chase sequence, you'll be in the hollow of a tree with what looks like a ribcage in front of you. Jump to the left in the hollow to find the hidden gem in a small upper area.
Rock Blocked
After the second checkpoint, you'll begin climbing a wall in a side scrolling section. You'll come across two metal jump boxes that are guarded by a plant enemy. Take those jump boxes up the ledge on the right and take out the flying enemy so that it does not break any of the boxes on the far-right side. You need to use those boxes to boost up to reach the hidden gem high in the air. High bounce off of the top box and start the vacuum hover at the peak of the jump to get every last inch of height.
The theme for Bermugula's Orbit is blue. Just blue
Out For Launch
The gem is almost immediately in front of you. Climb the two steps ahead and crouch jump behind the wall in the ceiling to find the hidden gem.
Shipping Error
After the second checkpoint, you'll go through a side scroller section that ends in a long hallway. At the end of that hallway is an elevator. Before you get on that elevator, crouch jump into the ceiling for the hidden gem.
Stowing Away
Just before the fifth checkpoint, you'll ride an elevator down, and if you stand by the near edge of the elevator, when you hit the bottom, you'll get a face full of hidden gem.
A Hole In Space
This is the N. Tropy fight, where nothing changes except for it being bluer.
The theme for The Snaxx Dimension is underwater. The jumps are floatier, and the movement is much slower than normal.
Crash Landed
In the blue gem path, once you reach the bottom of the goopy slopes and land on solid ground, you'll want to run towards the screen to find the hidden gem hanging out over the second small island.
Food Run
Right after the bonus path, you'll grab the Inversion mask and will need to jump from one block to the next, using the mask to pass through walls and make the blocks real. The final block in this section houses the hidden gem inside of it. Stand on the block after the TNT robot is gone and invert so that you fall through the block and grab the gem, then double jump to try to land back on the block as you invert it. You'll likely need to get the gem and the perfect run in two different runs.
Rush Hour
At the beginning, as you're crossing over the first collapsing blocks, you'll want to skip the third block and land on the fourth one because the hidden gem is within the fourth block. Collect it and jump to the third block to continue the level.
The Crate Escape
From the start, make your way into the small side scroller section. Turn the trash can enemy into a bouncy platform and move along, ignoring both boxes overhead. Use the jump boxes on the right side to make it to the top, where you'll want to bounce off the top of the box on the top left of the vents to make it on top of the vents. Head left and look down to see two boxes floating below. Use those boxes to reach the far-left side and dash into the small area that holds the hidden gem.
The theme of Cortex Island is an arcade style with a score counter and everything.
Nitro Processing
From the second checkpoint, make it past the three greenies to make them blow up, then head back to the skinny part of the upper platform and slide jump to the left to find the hidden gem behind the wall there, near the cogs.
Toxic Tunnels
At the fifth checkpoint, you need to get on the second moving platform of the third set of cogs and slide jump to the left when it reaches its peak to find the hidden gem and land back on the checkpiont platform.
Cortex Castle
At the third checkpoint, you'll pick up the Dark mask and start spinning away. Land on the first block of TNT and spin up and to the right to find the hidden gem amongst the sheets and cloths in the corner of the ceiling.
Seeing Double
From the first checkpoint as Crash/Coco, you'll use the Inverted mask to reach the Dark mask, and the Dark mask to reach the Time mask. When you have the Time mask, land on the ground beneath the fast-moving spiked discs. Look up to see a box floating over the discs that needs to be broken. Bounce off the top of that box to find the final hidden gem floating over top of it.
Congratulations on finishing every level forward and backwards. You'll earn two achievements if you also earned every gem in the inverted levels...
Now let's take a little break from the normal levels and do something a little easier...
