Harry Styles and Troye Sivan Are Inspiring My Summer Manicure

Despite my very serious relationship, I've recently become a little boy crazy. In the same way I once collaged my walls with magazine cutouts of my celebrity crushes, I now save screenshots of paparazzi photos and post them on Twitter. While I used to be into brooding “bad boys” (think Robert Pattinson circa Twilight and Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys), I now favor musicians with flamboyant personal style and actors with a body type I would lovingly refer to as scrawny.

Because it’s 2019 and gender is dead (to me), my celeb crushes are no longer just eye candy, but they actually serve as style inspiration. (The one exception might be Timothée Chalamet—I wouldn’t be caught dead in his Golden Globes harness.) I can’t say that Harry Styles hasn’t crossed my mind while shopping for velvet pants, and Troye Sivan's appearance in both Glossier Play and MAC's Viva Glam campaigns instantly sold me on the products. I’m lucky enough that my real-life boyfriend works in fashion and we share each other's clothes—and in my fantasies I have similar relationships with my internet crushes.

One thing I never saw coming, though, is that I’d be taking inspiration from men for my nails. All this changed when I was scrolling through Instagram a few weeks ago, saw a paparazzi photo of Harry Styles leaving the Gucci show, and actually gasped. He was wearing a perfectly tailored white suit and retro sunglasses, and his nails were painted in a mismatch of baby pink and mint green. Not only did I find myself incredibly attracted to him; I wanted to bring that photo to the nail salon ASAP.
