Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball finally made his season debut after almost 200 days. He missed a few of the Hornets’ matches this season as he suffered from an ankle injury he got during the preseason period. LaMelo made sure he did make some noise as he returned to the court.
The Charlotte Hornets clashed against an ‘in-form’ Miami Heat. They got blown out as the Heat put up a formidable performance. The only positive thing that happened for Hornets was the return of their star guard and he didn’t disappoint anyone. He scored a jaw-dropping buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter. The Hornets had possession of the ball, with only a few seconds left for the quarter to end.
Miami had set up a man-to-man defense and LaMelo was held tight. He somehow managed to cut loose and collected the ball from the outside. Knowing that he had only a few seconds to score, he sprinted toward the basket. The Heat defenders quickly moved onto him but couldn’t stop him from collecting 2pts for his team as he scored a fantastic lay-up shot. Social media lit up with many reactions and some of them can be seen below:

LaMelo Ball returns as Charlotte Hornets fall to Miami Heat
The All-star point guard LaMelo Ball would have liked to pocket the game but the Miami Heat were on a roll. Ball played for almost 28 minutes in his first game of the season, pouring in 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting, to go along with six rebounds, six assists and a steal.
He also looked rusty as he went 1-of-9 from his attempts from deep. So far, things have not been good for the Hornets, as they have lost eleven and won three of their fourteen games this season. Terry Rozier was the top-scorer for the Hornets, scoring 22 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 20 points. Nick Richards also chipped in with 15, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the team.
“Though it came in another loss, Ball’s much-anticipated return was certainly a sight for sore eyes throughout the Charlotte organization.”

For the Heat, Max Strus nailed in 31 points, Bam Adebayo had 24 points. Jimmy Butler and reserve Gabe Vincent posted 20 points as they registered consecutive wins. The Hornets now play the Orlando Magic next, and the Miami Heat clash against the Phoenix Suns.
