While the presentation for the 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts started with the announcement of two mobile games from the series coming to iOS and Android platforms this year, Square Enix dropped a huge surprise at the very end of the showcase.
What Is Kingdom Hearts 4 World Called?
According to the character that meets Sora in the apartment, the world that Sora has been dropped into is called Quadratum. As Square Enix explains in the press release, Quadratum is “a large, expansive city set in a gorgeous, realistic world unlike anything ever seen before in the Kingdom Hearts series.”
If you have already played Kingdom Hearts 3 and seen its secret post-credit cut-scenes, then you can easily guess that Kingdom Hearts 4 is a direct sequel to the latest mainline iteration, where Sora wakes up in a brand new world.
Seemingly, the world that Sora, Riku, and Luxu were spotted in the post-credits scene of Kingdom Hearts 3 must be Quadratum, though the new trailer doesn’t show any sign of Riku in this world for now.
It’s yet to be seen how the story is about to shape up in this new world, and how other friends of Sora would be able to find him in Quadratum. That being said, the story definitely hints at some new characters in the new world.
Unfortunately, we have no clue when we could probably get more information on Kingdom Hearts 4. Also, Square Enix avoided revealing the target platforms of the game at the end of the trailer. So, we are probably supposed to remain in the dark for a while!
