Jeffrey's Trackside Diner, July 2018 - Model Railroader Magazine

Good evening all.

I may not post everyday, but I at least peek in to see who's here, and so I seen....

Chef Ryan's here! Great!

Zoe - I will take the Chef's Special.

No offense meant here Vinnie, but your special always looks a bit, um, scary...

Again, no offense meant...

EDIT: And, looks like that bit me, as I got tops of the page, so, Chef Ryan's special of the day on my tab! Eat up all!

Travis - Hope the fire stays away.

Steven NWP - I never used to think a full moon brought out the weirdo's, but then I started w*^king retail, and now think that they do show up when there is a full moon.... It at least seems that way! (More of them come out for the moon, it seems!)

Car - Well, I had some JERK back into my car in the parking lot, while I was in it. I seen him shift into reverse and just start moving as I got directly behind him, and hit my horn hard, but JERK never looked still. I audibly said "You've GOT to be kidding me!" as he hit me, parked and got out of my car.

The JERK looked directly at me, then at my car, then back to me, then took off. (Like I said, this JERK was indeed a JERK!)

So I said, out loud, "REALLY!", and did the "What are you doing you idiot!" gesture of holding my arms out.

The person who was in front of me got out of her car, miffed that I had gotten on my horn, until she saw that I was looking at the JERK in the other vehicle. She then said "Did he just hit your car?" As I stood watching the JERK leave. My only response was "Yep, that JERK just did, and took off to boot!"

Only damage was a scuff on the bumper, and it knocked off the clip on the corner, so the bumper is sitting funny on that corner.

I did decide to get a dash cam before this, so did get the JERK's plate and have a vid of the "incident", but am choosing to just ignore it. It would be too much paperw*^k and too much of a hassle for the $20 (tops) in damage. (Counting both the clip and paint!)

Seeing as I had to patch a fender and repaint it, I already have the paint...

But that is NOT the way to start off a w*^k shift.....

(Hope Vinnie is ok with me calling JERK a JERK....)

W*^k - Was offered a spot at a place that is under the same company (but different franchise owner) that I used to work for, with a higher hourly rate than I am currently getting. A big plus is that he is under the same District Manager I was with before. I am debating on switching to that store. (I wasn't looking there, but the DM recommended me, and gave the owner my contact info. Along with a big encouragement to go after me, evidently.) My current boss is unaware of this, as of this posting, but will be informed soon. (If I decide to switch.) I would finish my schedule at my current employer first, so as to stay on good terms. (My current employer likes me, and I plan to keep it that way!)

The other consideration, is he already has 2 of the 3 others from that store there. (That's good, and not so good at the same time...)

He did tell me what the pay is, and what to expect bonus and spiff wise, and what the average schedule would be. (Set schedule most weeks. Hard to get in retail.)

Decisions, decisions....

While I understand that loyalty is a good thing, I also understand that sometimes you must do what's good for you, even if that means breaking that relationship.

As I said, decisions, decisions.....

Home - Rebuild of two rooms is completed, and paint is on the walls. Next comes new flooring, then a shuffle of furniture.

Then comes the removal of a wall in a different room, new paint and floor, and then I can rebuild the layout! (And have a bigger one!)

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!
