Track fiddler

Sorry BATMAN,  I was doing one of those stop and take a breather halfway up the flight things. I have some incentive now,  I'll be up there in 3 seconds   Thanks Brent   I didn't even know you were in Vegas, I hope you had fun too

Ya know, I don't think I have ever had Bourbon. We are going out tonight so I will see if I can have one at our friends' house, he has an extensive bar. I don't like sweet booze, just the drier stuff, so what am I looking for?

I have a lot to say about Vegas, not sure where to start, it was a break from the Winter wet and reasonably warm so we spent a lot of time outside. We were on the 28th floor and I ran up the stairs four times a day just to work off the gluttony I was partaking in, I came home 2lbs lighter than when we left.

Went to a Beatles knock off show that was excellent and also Chris Angel "mindfreak". It was a special show that was being taped for TV and it was just awesome. They moved us down to the front of the theatre from where we were sitting and he stood right beside us for one of his tricks in the isle.

We had been there several times over the years as my wife would go to educational conferences there. She would be in school 12hrs a day and I would get up to no good.Mischief Las Vegas really seems to have had the life sucked out of it since our last visit several years ago. The wife was the one that wanted to go and now has no desire to return which is fine with me.

We had planned to go to Cuba until someone gave us this trip and so we went to Vegas. The wife messed up the return flight and booked us out at the end of February instead of January so the day before we left we went to check-in and reserve our seats and we were not on the manifest. We had to buy two return tickets that were $600.00, no biggie. I have never known the wife to mess up before, old age is setting in.Laugh

Had a great flight back. There was a horrendous storm going on in the Pacific Northwest and the ride down was a hoot. It was so bad the flight attendants could not collect the drinks and one of them actually crawled to her seat along the floor. The best part was they didn't even charge us extra for the fun ride down.Yes I really love flights like that.

Went to the Atomic Testing Museum associated with the Smithsonian, this is where the contrast in the human condition really shocks in Vegas. There were High school kids doing internships there and we spent three hours having the most interesting conversations with them, they were such great kids with bright futures ahead of them. I talked to a couple of them for ages about nuclear-powered spacecraft, it was a good day.

We walked four miles each way to and from the hotel to the museum and talked to so many homeless people along the way, it was an interesting experience and so sad to see they had so little hope. Seeing the kids on the strip hustling and how they live their lives and going to the museum and talking to the kids there that are the complete opposite just left us shaking our heads.

Went to a couple of really good restaurants and hit a couple of the hotel buffets and as we expected the better restaurants had much better quality cuisine.

We were walking along the strip and there was this kid in his mid-twenties on the ground with a police officer next to him. I turned to my wife and said dead? She said yep and we walked a little further along and heard another officer saying they had a deceased person at their location. He was well dressed so who knows.

The ambulances travel up and down the strip in packs and pull over right, left and centre picking up all the massively overweight tourist that just drop while walking the strip. It was like something out of a Monty Python movie. "bring out your dead". Renting those wheelchair type scooters is big business there for people that can't walk more than a block. It is a long way between hotels and a lot of people can't walk that far. That made it easy for me to run up the 28 floors four times a day.Laugh

Vegas was okay and a break, but there are way better places in the world to go, like Cuba.Pirate

Time to go and discover Bourbon, I hope.

All the best to all.
