From Ferris wheels to bumper cars and, of course, fair food, Carlos Diaz checked out all the highlights at the Marion County Fair Friday morning on Sunrise.
Gates open at the Marion County Fair Friday at 5 p.m. It runs through Sunday, June 30. Military, police and firefighters can get in for free with their ID. Children 5 and under also get in free, and there's no charge for parking. If you want to go multiple days, you can save some money with a $25 season pass.
Monday through Friday, gates are open and you can go to the Midway from 5-11 p.m. and exhibit buildings are open 5-9 p.m. Weekends, the gates and Midway are open noon - 11 p.m. and exhibit buildings are open noon - 9 p.m.
- The Midway – This signature attraction is open during all hours of the fair and often has ride discounts available
- Fair Concessionaires – Perhaps the most iconic part of the fair – THE FOOD
- Park Stage – Serving as the epicenter for fair music, talent and entertainment, there's a variety of acts each day
- The Marketplace – This air-conditioned building features local business exhibits, cash & carry items and a sit-down cafe
- Family Arts Building – Also air-conditioned, this building hosts competitions and family artistry for all aspiring to be “the best in Marion County” at what they do
- Baird Pony Rides – An extension of the Baird Petting Zoo, the pony rides are located on the front lawn of the 4H Community Building! This features costs additional money.
- 4-H Exhibit Hall – This building showcases the hard work and talent of Marion County 4-H Youth, with projects ranging from science to photography and everything in between
- 4-H Arts & Crafts – The arts & craft projects of the Marion County 4-H Youth call this building home, including clothing designs, knitting & crochet, paintings, pottery and more
- Poultry Barn – A variety of poultry species will be on display throughout the fair
