There are a few Marx fans here
Count me in. The colorful lithography, their bulletproof elegantly simple mechanisms, their affordability have placed my Williams,MTH, and K Line equipment on the shelves, and has led to the slow replacement of "realistic" structures with the Marx gate crossing, freight house, Girard station etc. There is a charm to Marx , yes, a classic factor that new equipment lacks. I think the learning process is as interesting as the trains themselves, and unfortunately, although this magazine is titled classic trains, you can count the Marx articles on one hand, which is simply the way it is and no criticism intended. Another option is to join the TCA. Look up Marxtin on the web.. a great site...Robert Grossman has many repair parts...even the later production is a lot of fun..to collect, What you cannot see in the photo below is the fun of mixing things up..for example the B unit on the RI diesel has been fitted with a MTH knuckle coupler and is a pulling a long string of K line passenger equipment while the 333 is pulling an equally long string of six inch tin cars..all this has reinvigorated my waning interest n the hobby. The S gauge size of a great deal of Marx equipment that runs on O track is another interesting aspect of this.
