At 18, Ikpe-Etim started acting on stage at the university. Her first television appearance was in the family soap, Inheritance. This condition can cause painful menstrual cramps, heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding, fatigue and other symptoms.
The actress revealed her story at an event entitled: “Conversation with Nse”, in Lekki, Lagos. She said she was diagnosed with the condition in 2016 and that it was a difficult decision for her to make. The actress admitted that she cried when the doctor said she would have to remove her uterus to live a normal life. During the conversation, Ikpe-Etim said she was determined to find a way to manage the condition and she tried various treatments and different medications. But eventually, she had no choice but to remove her uterus. This decision deeply saddened her, but she was also relieved that it would save her life.
Ikpe-Etim said her experience has taught her to be more aware of her body and to take better care of her health. Encouraging other women to take their health seriously and to seek help if they suspect any health issue, Ikpe-Etim’s fertility story is an inspiration to many women who are struggling with similar conditions.
