The music icon Taylor Swift can write songs about anything or anyone. Tay’s music portfolio covers everything from lovers or exes to nemesis or friends, be it anyone.
This year, she revealed the track list for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which includes six unreleased tracks she wrote during her Speak Now era. They are known as the “vault” songs.
One song that is included in the list is When Emma Falls in Love. Obviously, the song is about the journey of a young woman named Emma as she navigates the intricacies of love. But fans wondered whether the track is about actress (and Swift’s friend) Emma Stone.

Taylor Swift’s Emma Falls in Love May be About Emma Stone
During a performance in Kansas City, speaking of her song Emma Falls in Love, Taylor Swift said, “I wrote about one of my best friends.” As everyone knows the greatest connection between Emma Stone and Swift, many wondered that the titular character is nobody but Stone herself. And the speculations gained traction when the clues in the lyrics also supported Swift’s statement.
The 31-year-old singer begins the track with “When Emma Falls in Love, she calls up her mom, jokes about the ways that this one could go wrong.” Followed up with the lyric, “She waits and takes her time, ’cause little miss sunshine always thinks it’s gonna rain.”
Stone’s close relationship with her mother closely aligns with these lyrics, which indicates her as the subject of Swift’s song. Then, there comes a “little miss sunshine” lyric. It connects to her film Easy A, where she famously sings along to Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine.
Even the timing also aligns with Swift’s Speak Now album because the original album came out in 2010, and Swift wrote all the songs between 2008 and 2010. One lyric also matches the situation that says, “She’s so New York when she’s in L.A.”
Besides showing up at events together, they were also spotted hanging around in New York several times, despite Stone living in Los Angeles at that time. Though Swift never explicitly confirmed that the song is about Stone—the inspiration, events, clues, and timing kind of make it evident.

Taylor Swift and Emma Stone’s Strong Friendship
The friendship between the Lover singer and the Marvel star spans well over a decade. They both met back in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards. Since then, they have taken their meeting to the next level and developed a close friendship in the following years.
And there’s no doubt that Stone is definitely a Swiftie. As the Hollywood actress once told Vanity Fair (via Elle) at the polo match, “I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get. She’s a wonderful friend. She blows my mind.” So, Stone is also Swift’s one of many longtime famous friends, including Selena Gomez and Blake Lively.
