Report: "ALF" star Max Wright dies at 75

Max Wright, the actor best known for his role as father Willie Tanner on the 1980s sitcom "ALF," has died.

LOS ANGELES (WTHR) - Max Wright, the actor best known for his role as father Willie Tanner on the 1980s sitcom "ALF," has died.

TMZ cited family sources in reporting Wright's death Wednesday after a yearslong cancer battle. He passed away at his home in Hermosa Beach, California, the website reported.

He was 75 years old.

In addition to his leading role on "ALF," Tanner appeared on shows including "Buffalo Bill," "Cheers" and "Norm," as well as several movies.
