Upcoming FPS, Crime Boss: Rockay City, is set to launch on PC in March and Xbox soon after, but while the cast of 90s action stars has intrigued many of us, the recent gameplay trailer doesn't seem to have gone down too well.
Crime Boss: Rockay City was an exciting surprise during The Game Awards 2022, which saw the game revealed alongside its wild cast featuring the likes of Michael Madsen, Kim Basinger, Chuck Norris, Vanilla Ice, and many more. It's set to launch on PC next month with an Xbox release to follow, but a recent gameplay trailer seemingly hasn't done it any favours.Crime Boss: Rockay City Lost Candy gameplay trailer
Many of the best Xbox first-person shooter games share some commonalities that are important for an FPS to succeed, such as, most obviously, polished gunplay and shooting mechanics. Crime Boss: Rockay City looks like it might not be hitting the expectations players have for a modern shooter. Some have outright called it "awful," while others have said it doesn't look like a modern game at all: "I would have LOVED this game 20 years ago," and "This looks like it would have been a good game in 2006."Looking at the gameplay in the trailer, which sees the player defending an area from waves of enemies, and the trailer a little while back that portrayed a heist, Crime Boss' main competitor looks to most likely be Payday. The team at Overkill has been creating games like this for more than a decade, and with Payday 3 on the horizon, Crime Boss needs to pull out all the stops to draw players away from Overkill's third heist-based FPS — it'll take more than star power to make this new IP a hit.
