MISSOULA — Colin Snodgrass, assistant coach for the Missoula Sentinel boys junior varsity soccer team, died Wednesday night at the age of 33.
His father, Bob, confirmed the news on Facebook.
"We are devastated. Our beloved son Colin M Snodgrass passed away suddenly Wednesday evening of natural causes. He was 33 yrs old. He was an assistant JV soccer coach at Sentinel High School in Missoula and had just started his own construction company. He was beautiful inside and out."
Snodgrass was a former standout for the Missoula Hellgate soccer team and a well known member of the Missoula hockey community. Snodgrass was a sweeper and captain for the soccer Knights in 2008 and went on to play Junior A hockey in Montana.
“Wednesday night a lot of people lost a best friend and we all lost an incredible person in our community," Sentinel boys varsity soccer coach Justin Mikkola told 406mtsports.com. "He fostered a great group of people around him, always looked out for the best for the groups he was part of and made us all stronger with his own strength and compassion. That compassion, togetherness, and strength feels so necessary right now.

"Colin appreciated the simplest, best things. Running with the dogs in the mountains, doing some push-ups with the team, and being with the people he loved. I already miss him so much. Many other people do too. Our hearts go painfully out to his family including his girlfriend and her family, his closest friends, and all the other lives he’s impacted so significantly.”
The Hellgate soccer community echoed Mikkola's thoughts. Snodgrass was part of the building-block teams that led to a Knights soccer dynasty that lives on today. Those who knew him describe him as a genuine, down-to-earth person that was easy to like and will be dearly missed.
