A new Skyrim mod introduces multiplayer interactions to the game through an Elden Ring-style messaging system.
Fans have been crafting The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mods since the game launched, building upon the game’s open-world and varied play styles to create new ways to explore the lands of Skyrim. Whether it’s bringing in new armor sets or improving player abilities, mods have kept the Skyrim community alive.
While official Skyrim content has largely remained solo adventures, players have created a number of mods to create a multiplayer experience. Groups can band together on local or browser servers, or even participate in combat arenas. Now, a new mod expands upon the fan-created multiplayer Skyrim experience, introducing a FromSoftware-esque way of communicating.
SKYRIM MOD INTRODUCES ELDEN RING PLAYER MESSAGING SYSTEM
Recently, Modder TommInfinite (with the assistance of others) published the Skyrim mod “Building Bridges” onto mod aggregator site Nexus Mods. Looking to add a kind of asynchronous multiplayer element to the game, TommInfinite took inspiration from Elden Ring to establish a new way for Skyrim players to communicate.
The “Building Bridges” plug-in allows players to leave messages for one another in-world, usually in the form of a fallen piece of parchment. Similar to Dark Souls or Elden Ring, players can write messages and anchor them to specific locations, pointing other players to hidden treasure – or, more likely, hidden traps. Check out their video on the mod below:
Though, unlike Elden Ring, this Skyrim mod utilizes a Free Text feature; players aren’t limited to any specific set list of words. Messages also come with a unique Rating System that ultimately dictates the number of messages a player can leave. The higher the rating your current messages get, the quicker you will level up, thus leading to greater freedom when it comes to placing future messages.
It’s important to note that the “Building Bridges” mod also has an active community of moderators to help manage the messages. This way, players can ensure they have a responsive support system should any issues arise.
To install the mod, head on over to the “Building Bridges” Nexus Mods page for full instructions! Then, you can try it out on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, available to play on PC, Switch, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. If Elden Ring is more your style, it’s out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
