Solo Leveling Spinoff Manhwa Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Officially Announced

According to Solo Leveling's Kakao Talk page, a new spin-off manhwa titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will officially launch on April 10. It will focus on Sung Su-ho, the son of Sung Jin-woo (the main protagonist of the main Solo Leveling manhwa).

The spinoff will be penned by the original author Chugong, but there is currently no word on who will replace the original artist Dubu after he passed away last year.

The artist was not only working on the webcomic adaption of Solo Leveling (which is originally a written novel), but he was the CEO of REDICE Studio as well, a Korean art studio responsible for many webtoon adaptions of famous Korean web novels such as Omniscient Reader, The Reaper, and of course Solo Leveling.

The Solo Leveling manhwa is currently over with 179 chapters in total, but the artists at the studio are currently working on a spin-off side story in honor of Dubu's legacy. The side story is getting published every Wednesday, and there are about 12 chapters released so far. This side story shows the adult version of the characters and confirms that Sung Jin-woo will marry Cha Hae and have a child with her (the protagonist of the new spin-off).

An anime adaptation of the original Solo Leveling story was announced at Anime Expo 2022, to be produced by A-1 pictures (Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, Sword Art Online: Alicization, and Lycoris Recoil). The anime is set to premiere in Winter 2024, and popular composer Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan) is confirmed to be handling the music for the upcoming anime. Crunchyroll is also confirmed to be responsible for streaming the anime outside of Asia.

Solo Leveling's fame has also spread to the gaming medium, and there is a confirmed game adaptation titled Solo Leveling: Arise in the works, but no word on the release date so far (the official website lists it as coming soon in 2023).

Last month, the official website announced the launch of many social channels on Youtube, Twitter, and other outlets, suggesting that the game may be released worldwide, and not just for English audiences. Solo Leveling: Arise will allow players to team up with other hunters, face off against shadows, challenge bosses, and raid bosses, just like in the original story.
