The 2022 NFL Draft recently concluded, and a lot of players got the opportunity of their lifetime by getting drafted. For many, this is a dream come true, as this is the result of their hard work, determination, and years of struggles. One such player is Kyler Gordon, the 39th overall pick in the 2022 Draft and the newest member of the Chicago Bears.
The cornerback out of Washington has immense potential and the Bears believe that he can start immediately in their secondary. Following the draft, his parents penned a heartfelt letter to him, congratulating him on his selection and expressing how they feel about him.

“We always believed God had a special plan for our baby boy. You have taken the core values and principles we instilled in you from a young age and applied them to your life,” his parents express their happiness over Gordon following the values he was taught as a child.
They go on to admire his work ethic by stating, “Your hard work, discipline, and commitment were evident in everything you did, from dance to martial arts, to football, and most importantly to us as parents, and in school.”
They justify their ‘tough love’ for the player by hoping that, “as you look back now, you can appreciate mom being a drill sergeant and making sure all the homework got done and your studies remained a priority. Meanwhile, dad always pushed you to realize your full potential and never letting you settle for less than your best.”
Kyler’s parents express how proud they are of him by calling him a “bright light” who has become a “man of grace who is wonderfully grounded, humble, and so loving,” to all those around him. In addition to this, they also appreciate him being a good role model and brother to his younger sister Keanamarie. Gordon becomes teary-eyed reading in the midst of reading this letter, as he should be. Who would not be carried away while reading such a beautiful letter?
Gordon’s parents conclude by mentioning how proud they are of him and how happy they are that he has achieved his childhood dream of becoming an NFL player.
The CB is at a loss for words after reading the letter, if not for the hat that he is rocking in the video, we surely would have seen a tear or two roll down from his eyes. Kyler gathers himself and expresses his gratitude to his parents by thanking them and stating, “I couldn’t get to where I was without you guys, appreciate everything you did.”
Needless to say, that letter surely would have made you feel emotional. It would not be surprising if Kyler Gordon decides to frame that up and hang it in his room to remind him of his journey!
