Looks like today we aren’t just getting firmware update 2.50 “Yukimura” but also verified PlayStation Network accounts. More precisely, select industry professionals will get them, as explained on Twitter by SCEE Community Manager Chris Owen.
Verified PSN account 🙂 *Proud*. C’mon Twitter, now it’s your turn!

About PSN verified accounts: Select game developers, producers, designers and community managers will be verified with a badge.

In the picture above posted by Owen, you can see how the badge looks (it’s the little white circle with the check mark), which is pretty similar to what we get on Twitter and other social networks.
While this definitely isn’t world-changing, it’s still a small utility feature that will let us recognize known personalities of the industry when we happen to meet them on the PSN.
As a funny note of color, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida’s account still isn’t “verified” at the moment of this writing. On the other hand, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Creative Director Neil Druckmann already got his check, as you can see below. Gotta get that game face on, Shu.
