Teacher serving eight years for sending naked pictures to a minor pleads guilty to sex with teen

A Florida high school teacher who was previously sentenced to eight years for sending nude photos to a minor has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Brock Smith, 32, from Naples, agreed to a plea deal on Tuesday and had four years added to his previous prison term, for a total of 12 years.

Smith, who has two young children with his fitness instructor ex-wife, will also have to register as a sex offender and spend 12 years on probation.

Smith had worked as a teacher and football coach at Naples High School since 2011.

In August 2017, the married father was arrested in connection to sexual misconduct allegations involving a minor.

The educator told investigators that he sent nude photos of himself via Snapchat and Instagram to a girl, who was 17 at the time, reported Naples Daily News.

NBC2 reported that the teacher told the minor his wife would be out of town and that he would be free in the mornings for sex. 

He also admitted to having sex with the same girl in a bathroom.

This past May, Smith pleaded no contest to felony charges of transmitting harmful material to a minor and using a computer service to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child for pornography.

Smith was fired from his teaching job in September 2017.

His ex-wife, who works as a fitness and lifestyle coach, remarried in November 2018 and is now raising her and Smith's son and daughter with her second husband.
