“That n***a’s happy as f***,” Deontay Wilder believes Anthony Joshua will avoid super fight against him using upset loss against Joseph Parker

In a recent interview, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder expressed his belief that Anthony Joshua would avoid their fight. Recently, Wilder fought against Joseph Parker in the co-main event of the ‘Day of Reckoning’ massively stacked fight card. Additionally, Joshua fought against Otto Wallin in the main event, and while Joshua won, Wilder failed to secure a victory. Hence, this has become a massive hurdle to their highly anticipated super fight, which was under negotiation.

Wilder, known for his explosive power and undefeated record, has been calling out Joshua since they were champions. Hence, for several years, Wilder has been eager to prove who the true heavyweight king is. However, Deontay Wilder has always accused Joshua of avoiding their fight and suspects that Joshua will try to avoid it again.

Furthermore, Wilder suspects that Joshua will use his upset loss against Parker as an excuse to avoid a highly anticipated super fight with him. Subsequently, Wilder stated:

Did you see how happy he was coming out? I broke out laughing, I said, ‘That n***a’s happy as f***.’ He was like, ‘I ain’t gotta fight Wilder.’ The rumour was he was talking about retiring if I won… March 9th, the fight still can go on. But this is a perfect way for them to get out.

In an interview with 78SPORTSTV, Wilder stated that Joshua appeared very happy after Wilder lost because it was a massive hurdle to their fight. Subsequently, Eddie Hearn had also previously mentioned that if both fighters had won their respective bouts, their superfight would be confirmed.

In addition, Wilder stated that Joshua is happy he doesn’t have to fight him but was rumored to retire if Wilder won. Wilder also mentioned that their fight can still happen on March 9 unless Joshua tries to avoid the fight.

Across the 12 rounds, Parker was able to deal with Wilder and his devastating punching power and reach. After the upsetting loss, Wilder took to social media to address his third career loss. Furthermore, Wilder discussed how he came up short and his timing was off, which could be because of his inactivity.

Subsequently, Wilder stated that he didn’t fight or unleash his punches the way he normally does. However, Wilder remains positive and believes that he will live to fight another day and will come back to the ring.
