These Lisa Frank Tarot Cards Bring the '90s to Your Future

Though Lisa Frank has become synonymous with '90s schoolyard swag, Hart didn't have the opportunity to showcase any puppy-unicorn-teddy-bear-adorned folders or pencil cases to her classmates—she was homeschooled for most of her life. "There are a lot of good and bad experiences that I skipped from the elementary school years. One of the good ones to me might have been showing off school supplies to my friends," she told Glamour. "Brands were something that my parents were careful to avoid. Growing up there was an emphasis on paying attention to the quality of products regardless of the brand."

However, in a complete 180 from her earlier years, Hart's adult life is deeply entrenched in labels: She serves as the art director of a social media studio that specializes in branded content.

"Now that I'm working in advertising I'm enamored with the idea of brand names becoming synonymous with the quality of their products. To this day, you don't copy a document, you Xerox it," Hart said. "I think that's always the goal. Lisa Frank imagery has done that for, not only their product, but for their aesthetic. This is the alchemic recipe for an icon."

Though she doesn't currently have any tangible projects in the works, Hart hopes to integrate more '90s pop culture staples into her future designs.

"It's tough to find well-known '90s staples that haven't had their rebirth," she said. "[Maybe] Rococo style paintings of Ren and Stimpy scenes? I'll go with that."
