UFC San Diego was not the best event for fans of Dominick Cruz. The UFC legend faced a brutal defeat and he also didn’t go home with a handsome paycheck. Fans of D-Cruz were broken when they found out that their favorite fighter got paid less than preliminary fighter Angela Hill.
Dominick Cruz returned to the octagon after quite some time against one of the current best in the division. Chito Vera and Cruz headlined the UFC Fight Night event in San Diego, which also happens to be The Dominator’s hometown. The entire Pechanga Arena in California was rooting for the former bantamweight champion to put on a show. The fight went on for four great rounds and Cruz looked like he was going to get another victory.
However, Chito Vera ended the fight with a stunning left kick and silenced the entire crowd. Recently the salaries for the UFC San Diego were released and the fans were shocked to know that Angela Hill, a women’s strawweight veteran banked more than Cruz this past weekend’s fight night. Fans could not believe what they saw and did not hold back with their reactions.
Angela Hill makes $15,000 more than Dominick Cruz
The main event winner, Marlon Vera took home the biggest check. He got paid $150,000 to show and $150,000 to win. Cruz who did not get the win was still the fighter with the highest base salary, $175,000. Angela Hill, the women’s strawweight veteran had a record of 14-12 and has a base salary of $90,000 which is significantly lesser than Cruz’s. However, a win for Angela saw her taking home a whopping $190,000 which was more than the former bantamweight champion.

It is worth noting that many fans completely ignored the fact that his base salary of Cruz is way higher than that of Hill. Fans also took shots at Dom for boasting that he has no manager, unlike other fighters who let their managers negotiate contracts with the UFC.

Hard to believe anyone could look at these purse numbers and not realize how fucked up and broken they are. Being good is roughly as valuable as being mediocre over a long period of time. Angela Hill made more than Dominick Cruz. More than 3 of the main card winners combined
