Dune: Part Two, which will be released next year, features a duel between Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler). But prior to that, in a recently released charming video, Chalamet and Butler—the actors who play those roles—competed against each other in a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 match. As one of the most popular video game franchises ever, Call of Duty has been able to secure significant crossovers by riding its success.
Chalamet and Butler, two of Hollywood’s most promising young actors, got into a virtual brawl in the gripping Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 universe. Both celebrities were drawn to the engrossing game, which helped them hone their talents and deepen their relationship as cast members of Dune 2. The Wonka star narrowly escapes humiliation when he challenges his Dune 2 co-star in a critically acclaimed first-person shooter video game.
Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler’s Dune 2 Characters Face Off in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler squared off to display their new in-game skins as if we were not excited enough for Dune Part 2. This, along with the recent trailer, has increased our excitement for Denis Villeneuve’s second installment of the Dune series.
The characters of Chalamet and Butler from Dune: Part Two are being brought into the Call of Duty universe by Legendary Entertainment and Activision. The game features realistic recreations of the two actors, complete with special weapons, accessories, and voice acting. In a video released by Activision, the actors compete in a knife-only, one-on-one death match on the famous Rust map, giving viewers a preview of their in-game personas.
You can see the Interstellar actor enjoying his kills, jumping up to let off steam while the cool Butler finds it difficult to keep up. Challenging the Dune 2 co-star, Chalamet, who is always endearing, shows Butler that he is a true gamer by hitting him, thus escaping a chance of humiliation.
Activision has released new bundles for their first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone that includes the characters portrayed by the two actors.
We learned from Variety that the first bundle, which is currently available, stars Chalamet as Paul Atreides. The second, which stars Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, will be out on December 16.
The Director Teases What Fans Can Expect in Dune: Part Two
Fans are feeling shivers down their spine as they watch the trailer for Dune: Part Two, which was released on May 3, 2023. This renowned science fiction film offers yet another breathtaking look at the desert planet. Along with Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler, and others, Timothée Chalamet will make a comeback.
The “much more emotional” movie will be stressed in Dune: Part Two, according to director Denis Villeneuve’s statement to Empire magazine. The roles of Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani will also be highlighted. He described:
“At the very core is a love story between Paul and Chani. How Paul will gain her trust, how she will open her heart to him, and how they will find a way to free Chani’s world from the Harkonnen grip. It’s a much more emotional movie.”
Villeneuve stated that the first two films will be about the protagonist’s journey to self-discovery, so he attempted to relieve Chalamet of the pressure to become a hero. He continued, saying:
“I remember when I was doing Part One, I kept saying to Timothée: ‘No, you’re just Paul.’ Because he was reaching for Muad’Dib [Paul’s name within the Fremen community]. He was looking forward to becoming that hero and I was pushing the brakes. He has the power to change things, but he knows that if he does so, it will create an astronomical amount of violence, and he will become a kind of dictator. He’s trying to find a way to avoid that ominous future – that’s the burden upon his shoulders.”
Following the critical and commercial success of the first film, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment gave the film the green light in October 2021. The studio plans to release Dune: Part Two, the follow-up to Dune (2021), on March 1, 2024.
You can stream Dune on Netflix.
