“Truly a poverty franchise,” Twitter Reacts to a Washington Commanders fan receiving BOUNCED check from franchise after winning a raffle contest

The Washington Commanders truly went through an embarrassing moment when the check that they provided to the contest winner bounced in the bank.

The season ticket holder, Drew Shipley, won the raffle contest worth $14,000 and the check he received was of the same amount as well. The only obstacle with this was when Shipley went to cash out the check, he was met with a check that had bounced.

The check was won back in September for a 50/50 raffle contest, but Shipley had to struggle a lot for that. After various questioning sessions, he received the check this month, but the check was of no use.

“It’s the principle of the matter of how they handled it, starting at the communication level, retaining the employees, retaining customers as season ticket holders.” Drew Shipley stated. “This is my first season, I just moved out here. How are you going to retain these people who are spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars a season?”

Instead of receiving $14,000, Shipley was charged a $14 fee for a bad check fee. After the incident went viral on social media, the Commander PR agreed that the check had bounced but it was the fault of the bank and not the organization. They later announced that they have wired Shipley the exact amount.

Dan Snyder‘s takeover has started a rather unwanted embarrassing journey for the Commanders and their miserable form this season also isn’t helping.

The Washington Commanders are off to a rocky start this season

The Commanders are 2-4 after 6 games in the NFL this season and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better as they face the vengeful Packers in their next game. Though the Commanders have strong momentum after claiming a win against the Bears last season, they are still underdogs in the Packers game.

On top of that, the Commanders are also missing their starting QB Carson Wentz due to an injury and HC Ron Rivera is hopeful that the transition from Wentz to backup QB Taylor Heinicke will be an easy one.

Just talked to Drew Shipley, the @Commanders
fan whose $14kprize check from the team bounced after winning the 50/50 raffle week 1. The team paid him what he was owed this afternoon but he remains stunned. "Who am I supposed to talk to? Am I supposed to call Dan Snyder myself?"

Since Dan Snyder took over as the new team owner, the Commanders have been in complete disarray and his arrogance has led the team into further troubles.

Colts owner Jim Irsay is trying his best to make Snyder sell the Commanders as his presence is having adverse effects on other teams and is pretty positive that he’ll be able to do it.

NFL twitter got flooded with quality memes and the Washington Commanders were victim to heavy trolling after the bounced check incident involving Drew Shipley went viral. Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting reactions below.

Just like the offense, even their check isn’t money in the bank.
