Tsukimichi Anime Release Date, Trailer, And Where to Read Manga Spoilers

A new trailer was revealed for the long-awaited Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy anime, announcing more of the cast of characters, and a release date. Here’s why you should keep an eye on Tsukimichi, and why it’s different from other Isekai series.

Tsukimichi anime release date, new trailer

Studio C2C revealed a new trailer for the Tsukimichi anime, announcing a July 2021 release date in Japan. This is when the English simulcast of the series will begin as well.

In the trailer, we are introduced to our protagonist Makoto Misumi and how he ends up sent to another world by Tsukiyomi, the moon god. As soon as he gets sent there though, a Goddess says he’s way too ugly, and banishes him to a barren wasteland.

Makoto then ends up meeting various friendly monsters, and forming pacts with them. Most notably the dragon Tomoe and the spider Mio. Later on, Makoto ends up exploring the world as he tries to live and adapt to his new life. You can find the trailer right below:

Should you watch Tsukimichi? Why the anime is different from other Isekai

Despite being overpowered like pretty much every Isekai protagonist, Makoto is particularly well written. With his choices and fighting style based on his past experiences at school and at a strict archery dojo. Most notably, Makoto is no hero, and he often ends up taking conflicting decisions.

I can’t spoil everything for you, but Tsukimichi is definitely one of the best Isekai out there. It’s even much better than How Not to Summon a Demon Lord to take an ongoing example.

More about the manga, novel versions

This anime series is originally Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu, a web novel written by Kei Azumi from 2012 to 2016 on popular website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Later on, a light novel version was launched in 2013, and is still ongoing in Japan, with 8 volumes so far. A manga adaptation is also ongoing since 2015, with illustrations by Kotora Kino.

If you speak Japanese, you can read the manga’s online pre publication for free every month at Alphapolis. Tsukimichi was sadly not licensed in America yet. Fans have translated the original free web novel. However, there are no official ways to enjoy the manga or light novel versions in English right now.
