One woman was able to escape unharmed after she woke up to smoke in her apartment in the Wyckford Commons Apartments, near 10th and Girls School Road, just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - One woman was able to escape unharmed after she woke up to smoke in her apartment in the Wyckford Commons Apartments, near 10th and Girls School Road, just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Wayne Township firefighters arrived on the scene to find fire coming from a second floor window. They made quick work of the fire getting it under control within 15 mintues. Six occupied units were evacuated.
Four of the units were damaged by fire and smoke but two of those were vacant at the time.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire that caused $50,000 in damage. There was no working smoke detector in the apartment where the fire started.
