[Personal Side Note: After I asked the question, Ty said to me, 'That is a very actor-based question. I'm maybe thinking you were an actor before?' I had never had anyone pick up on that--especially during an interview, but the answer is yes! I was on a show called Campus Ladies for two seasons, and although it was the best experience ever, I truly love what I'm doing more now. Ty was so interested, he started interviewing me about my decision to get back to my journalism roots. Aside from being a hilarious comedic actor, he is also one of the most caring, level-headed, and sweet guys. He joked with me that I was lucky to get out so 'cleanly!']
But speaking of performing, I know what you all probably want to know the most, which is what is coming up on Modern Family this season! So, without further ado...
Glamour: How has it been being back at work this season, especially with such a huge plot point thanks to Gloria's pregnancy?
Ty: It's so nice to be back. I think Gloria's pregnancy is one of those things that does give you a new perspective, giving all the characters something new to look at and think about. It's just been fun. It affects everybody's episodes. Claire and Phil debate Phil having a vasectomy because of [Gloria and Jay] having the baby, so it's all of that kind of stuff. Luckily, there's a lot of storyline ideas in the way that the showrunners have set up the show.
I can't wait to see the season premiere next month to see how Gloria's pregnancy shakes everything up. I mean, Jay's reaction alone--you know that's going to be priceless! Who do you think is going to be shocked the most by Gloria's pregnancy: Jay or Manny? And have you ever almost decided to throw in the towel on something and are glad you didn't?
