WATCH: Stefon Diggs and teammates cry INCONSOLABLY after seeing Damar Hamlin’s condition as prayers circle around for the ‘critical’ Bills safety

Monday Night Football between the Bills and the Bengals has quickly turned into one of the darkest days in NFL history. The Bills Safety Damar Hamlin suffered a nasty blow after his collision with Bengals WR Tee Higgins during one of the plays. The game was suspended soon after this unfortunate incident, which is a rarity in the league.

According to reports, Hamlin had a cardiac arrest after his tackle with Higgins and suddenly fell to the ground. However, as soon as he got to his feet, he collapsed to the ground and passed out. A short while later, an ambulance was rushed to the scene. To highlight the gravity of the situation, Hamlin had to receive CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) after it was discovered that he wasn’t breathing but still had a pulse.

While the broadcaster, ESPN, did a commendable job of stopping the coverage of what was transpiring on the field with a cut-in, fans instantly understood the severity of the accident by looking at the players’ faces. Right from Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs, nearly every player on the Bills roster broke a tear, many of whom were inconsolable. The players on both teams knelt down in prayer and were trying hard to fight back tears for their dear teammate and colleague.

Amidst all this, the league and the broadcasters deserve some pat on their backs. The NFL, which is criticized regularly for the players’ injuries and various controversial concussion protocols, quickly took action to suspend the game. “Neither coach was talking about resuming play, the players weren’t. … It was really about Damar. … How do you resume play after you’ve seen such a traumatic event?,” NFL executive Troy Vincent spoke to Ian Rapoport on the same.

Currently, Damar Hamlin has been taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He has been under continuous observation. Many of Hamlin’s teammates are seen outside to provide support for the Safety and his family. Hamlin’s good friend, Stefon Diggs joined numerous Bills and Bengals fans outside the hospital premise praying for Hamlin.

A recent update confirmed that Hamlin’s vitals are back to normal, and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. The doctors are currently running tests.

The whole sports fraternity is praying for Damar Hamlin’s recovery. It’s advised to readers to refrain from speculation and spreading any misinformation on this sensitive matter.
