Athanasios “Thanasi” Kokkinakis is an Australian tennis player most notable for being a doubles specialist. The 26-year-old turned professional in 2013 and has achieved a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 15 which he attained on November 2022.
The 2022 season has been the greatest year of his career when he won the Australian Open doubles title along with Nick Kyrgios. Kokkinakis’ biggest showing at the Grand Slam came when he reached the Third Round of the French Open in 2015.
Kokkinakis has a win-loss record of 47-65 in singles and achieved the highest ranking of 69 in singles by the ATP, which he first achieved on June 2015. His total number of titles in singles and doubles stands at one and three respectively.

Australian player Thanasi Kokkinakis’ parents are originally from Greece. His father Trevor Kokinakis is from Kalamata which is the second most populous city of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece. Voula, Kokkinakis’ mother is from Tripoli which s a city in the central part of the Peloponnese.
Kokkinaki’s parents immigrated to Australia before he was born. His father is an engineer, and his mother is a stay-at-home mom or homemaker. Kokkinakis has two siblings Christina And Pan Kokkinakis. Thanasi is the youngest one among them.
Growing up Kokkinakis got support from his parents to make a career in tennis. His siblings too played a significant role in his tennis journey. Kokkinakis has earlier recalled being inspired to participate in athletics by his older brother.
